Facebook is killing the beer-based Facebook groups. The Heineken Blade Owners group was shut down with a huge number of members. No reason given. Then the perfectdraft Scotland group went overnight too. Again, not explanation what we had done wrong. We appealed, but two weeks on have heard nothing.

The Perfectdraftkegtips Facebook group had taken almost five years to build up and began to take a turn for the worst with the pending Tennets launch. We had 31,000 members, all united by the Perfectdraft machine. I took the decision to archive the group after so many posts were removed by Facebook and more by admins. It was becoming a toxic environment.

I started the website back in January as I could see the inevitable happening and it has been a success. It’s a much more pleasant place to be, more structured and information remains current for longer. The website is owned and ran by Five Bells Media Ltd. which also deals with youtube income and a few other things. Those of you who...

Machine compressor making a noise regularly

If you machine's compressor is coming on every few minutes It's a sign that air is escaping from the gap between the inside of the keg and the bag that holds the beer, thus making your Perfectdraft machine produce more air. This video shows how the keg system works. Excuse the flat grinder battery, I was told it was fully charged!


Follow this checklist to see what the problem is.

  1. Take the keg out of your machine and try pushing down on both sides of the tap unit. Most of the time the tap isn't on properly,and clicked in.
  2. Remove the tap and look for damage to the keg, on the black bit. Look for damage to the thick black "O" ring on the underside of the tap unit. If that's dented or disformed, carefully pour boling water over it, It should go back into its original shape. If it's ripped, you'll have to either buy a new tap unit or do a new O ring workaround. More on that later.
